My name is Jason Tashea, and I am from Anchorage, Alaska. I travel, live, and work and then tell you about it. Recently, I was living in Kosovo as a Fulbright Fellow studying their juvenile justice system. I am also the President and co-founder of Youth Courts International, an organization that promotes and consults on, you guessed it, juvenile justice reform around the world. In my spare time, I work with a partner to develop online legal tools to help people better access justice like ExpungeMaryland.org. Weirdly, I don't write that much about juvenile justice on this site.
The Blog
Legally North of Babylon was born in the spring of 2011. I was headed to Armenia for a summer position with the American Bar Association’s Rule of Law Initiative. While at the time, I was actually legally north of what was once Babylon, the name has stuck even though my geographic location has changed. No matter my whereabouts, the general goal of this blog remains the same: to fill a void in me left by Eastern Europe. Please feel free to link my work to whatever you are doing, unless what you are doing is nefarious or slanderous.
The Disclaimer
This blog consists of my own thoughts and opinions and should not be confused with the official policy of the United States Department of State so long as I am a Fulbright Grant recipient--if that wasn’t obvious.
